Sustainable packaging

At Berdal, we focus on packaging that is environmentally friendly and offers practical benefits for our partners. By reducing the use of plastic and switching to sustainable alternatives, we help retailers and construction partners achieve a cleaner working environment, simpler stock management and lower waste disposal costs.

Verpakken Emmers Berdal

Our approach

We consider the environmental impact of our packaging in every investment and policy decision. For example, we saved approximately 24,000 kilograms of packaging material with the packaging for Gripline products. For FENTO, this is 4,000 kilograms, and for Konvox, we save almost 10 kilograms per pallet.

We invest in more efficient packaging lines. For example, our new line uses 25% less packaging material per pallet, and we have introduced a banding machine that eliminates the need to wrap EPDM rolls in plastic. We are also digitising our communications to further reduce our use of paper and cardboard.

Benefits for our partners

  • Less plastic waste on construction sites and in shops
  • Lower waste disposal costs thanks to more sustainable packaging
  • Optimisation of stock management through smaller packaging units
  • Sustainable alternative without compromising on protection or quality
Packaging

Low-plastic packaging

Our Konvox lashing straps, lifting straps and round slings are now packaged with low plastic content. Our goal is to eventually make the entire Konvox line plastic-free. This packaging is TÜV-certified, combining quality, safety and reliability with sustainability.

We are also taking steps towards reducing plastic within Gripline. Door buffers are no longer delivered in plastic, but in FSC-certified cardboard. This more sustainable packaging reduces our ecological footprint and improves the shop presentation.

The next step

We have set new packaging targets for 2026. We want to develop low-plastic packaging for Konvox tarpaulins and trailer nets and completely plastic-free packaging for Pandser construction film.

In addition, we will continue to make our existing product lines more sustainable. We are investigating new ways to reduce packaging material without compromising on protection or ease of use.
